Closed to new burials — but its memorials still stand, and families still visit. Older stone weathers hardest, so this is exactly the kind of ground that needs careful care.

Brentwood Sephardi Cemetery at Coxtie Green, just east of the M25, holds the remains and reset ledger stones moved from the Novo cemetery at Mile End. It is closed to new burials but remains an important place for Sephardi families to visit. Flat ledger stones weather and green over; we clean them gently, with stone-safe methods, following burial-society rules.
About Brentwood Sephardi Cemetery
At Dytchleys, Coxtie Green, near Brentwood, this S&P Sephardi Community ground holds roughly 7,500 sets of remains relocated from the Novo cemetery at Mile End in 1974, together with their reset ledger stones. It is closed to new burials, but its memorials are still tended and it draws Sephardi descendant families from across London.
Access: Administered by the S&P Sephardi Community, so arrangements for memorial work are made with them rather than a council. The site is at Coxtie Green, just outside the M25 to the east of London. We never work on Shabbat or festivals.
Permission: memorial work here is governed by the burial authority. In practice the registered grave owner’s consent is what we ask for, and we work to the site’s own memorial rules — see their memorial guidance, or our guide to who needs permission to clean a grave.
