About Brookwood Cemetery
Brookwood Cemetery was founded in 1852 by the London Necropolis Company as London’s overflow burial ground, reached originally by its own funeral railway from Waterloo. It remains the largest cemetery in the UK and a Grade I registered landscape. It is also home to the country’s biggest concentration of minority-faith burial grounds, including major Muslim, Zoroastrian and Roman Catholic sections.
Access: Grade I registered landscape means conservation rules govern all memorial work here, on top of the cemetery’s own regulations across its Muslim, Zoroastrian, Catholic and other dedicated sections.
