About St Mary the Virgin Churchyard, Perivale
St Mary the Virgin Churchyard stands on Perivale Lane in Perivale, Greenford, beside the parish church of the same name. The church closed to regular worship in 1972, after the A40 bisected the parish, and is now run as a music and events venue by the Friends of St Mary’s Perivale, under lease from the Diocese of London. The churchyard holds 18th and 19th-century monuments, two notable yew trees, and one Commonwealth war grave. It closed to the burial of non-parishioners after a legal challenge in 1906. This is a separate site from Greenford Park Cemetery, Ealing’s active council cemetery, which we also cover — the two should not be confused.
Access: The churchyard is closed to burial, but it is not neglected — the church and grounds are maintained by the Friends of St Mary’s Perivale under lease from the Diocese of London, and memorial work is arranged with them rather than with Ealing Council.
