Closed to new burials — but its memorials still stand, and families still visit. Older stone weathers hardest, so this is exactly the kind of ground that needs careful care.

Plashet Jewish Cemetery in Manor Park is a historic United Synagogue burial ground, closed to general new burials and gated, with access only by prior arrangement. Many of its older headstones were damaged in a vandalism incident and others show ordinary Victorian and Edwardian weathering. We carry out careful, stone-safe grave and headstone cleaning here, always working with the Burial Society’s permission and rules.
About Plashet Jewish Cemetery
Plashet Jewish Cemetery opened in 1896 and is long known locally as the ‘Trade Unionists Cemetery’, serving Jewish families from Ilford, East Ham, Whitechapel and beyond, including around forty Commonwealth war burials. It is closed to new burials and gated, but its memorials are still maintained and can be visited by prior arrangement with the United Synagogue Burial Society.
Access: Plashet is administered by the United Synagogue Burial Society; the site is gated and closed to general visiting, with access only by prior arrangement (020 8518 2868). As a Jewish burial ground, we never work on Shabbat or festivals and follow burial-society rules.
