Yes. Greenwich Cemetery on Well Hall Road, also known as Shooters Hill Cemetery, is a Victorian ground on a sloping site still in use today. Older limestone, sandstone and marble memorials weather and darken with algae and soot, while newer granite mostly needs cleaning and re-gilding. We work stone-safe and follow the Royal Borough of Greenwich’s rules.

About Greenwich Cemetery

Established in 1856 by the Greenwich Burial Board, this 22.5-acre cemetery lies on the south-western slopes of Shooters Hill, between Woolwich and Eltham. It has two Gothic chapels and a 1920s lodge, and many service personnel from the Royal Military Academy and the Royal Arsenal are buried here. Locally it is still called Shooters Hill Cemetery.

Access: Administered by the Royal Borough of Greenwich, so memorial work needs council permission and the grave owner’s consent. The entrance is on Well Hall Road, and the ground slopes, which matters if you have mobility difficulties or are visiting in wet weather.

Permission: memorial work here is governed by Royal Borough of Greenwich. In practice the registered grave owner’s consent is what we ask for, and we work to the site’s own memorial rules — see their memorial guidance, or our guide to who needs permission to clean a grave.
