Grave & Headstone Cleaning at Willesden Jewish Cemetery

Brent · NW10 2JE · Faith cemetery · opened 1873

Closed to new burials — but its memorials still stand, and families still visit. Older stone weathers hardest, so this is exactly the kind of ground that needs careful care.

Willesden Jewish Cemetery on Beaconsfield Road is a historic Jewish burial ground, now closed to new burials but still cared for and visited. Established in 1873, it holds heavy Victorian stonework, including the graves of Rosalind Franklin and members of the Rothschild family, so any cleaning needs a conservation-sensitive approach. Memorial Guardian London’s work here is entirely stone-safe and mindful of the site’s Grade II listing.

About Willesden Jewish Cemetery

Willesden Jewish Cemetery was established in 1873 on Beaconsfield Road and holds around 29,800 graves across 8.5 hectares. It is Grade II listed on Historic England’s Register of Parks and Gardens, with a listed war memorial and 110 Commonwealth war graves. Now generally full and closed to new burials, its memorials — including those of Rosalind Franklin — are still tended and visited through the House of Life heritage project.

Access: The cemetery is run by the United Synagogue Burial Society. Its Grade II listed status and heavy Victorian stonework mean memorial work needs a conservation-sensitive approach, agreed with the cemetery office in advance.
