Yes. Acton Cemetery opened in 1895, and its older Victorian memorials — limestone, sandstone and marble — hold algae, lichen and dark surface staining, particularly on the shaded, north-facing sides. We clean grave memorials at Acton gently, using stone-safe methods rather than harsh chemicals or pressure washing, and follow Ealing Council’s rules for memorial work.

About Acton Cemetery

Acton Cemetery opened in 1895 on Park Royal Road, covering about 6.5 acres, with two chapels of the same year and 143 Commonwealth war graves. It remains open for new graves. The Central Line runs straight through the site, splitting it in two, with a metal footbridge joining the halves.

Access: Run by the London Borough of Ealing, so memorial work is subject to council permission. There is a pedestrian entrance on Chase Road, and because the railway divides the cemetery, some sections are reached only by the footbridge.

Permission: memorial work here is governed by London Borough of Ealing. In practice the registered grave owner’s consent is what we ask for, and we work to the site’s own memorial rules — see their memorial guidance, or our guide to who needs permission to clean a grave.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have a grave cleaned at Acton Cemetery?+

Yes. We provide professional, stone-safe grave and headstone cleaning at Acton Cemetery, following the cemetery’s regulations. Just give us the section and grave reference and we’ll do the rest.

Do I need to be present?+

No. We only need the cemetery name and plot reference. We send before-and-after photographs and a short report when the work is done.

How much does grave cleaning at Acton Cemetery cost?+

A single headstone clean starts from £75 and a full grave clean from £85, depending on stone type, condition and access. We always provide a free, no-obligation quote first.

Our grave is on the far side of the railway — can you still reach it?+

Yes. The Central Line cuts Acton Cemetery in two and the halves are joined by a metal footbridge, so some sections are reached on foot across the bridge rather than directly from the main gate. We carry our own water and equipment, so a grave on the far side is no trouble.
